Dunaj was developed in the Research Institute of Viticulture and Enology in Bratislava by Dorota Pospíšilová. It comes from the triple crossing of the (Muscat Bouchet x Oporto) x St. Laurent varieties. The grapes for making the wine come from the village of Čebovce, the Čebovská stráň Pod horou vineyard.
